DRR Camp Championed By Church Youth Leaders

.Seventy-one youth leaders attended the 3-day DRR Camp at Binangonan, Rizal held on May 23-25, 2011. The camp mimicked the situation in an evacuation centers where resources and space are limited. Helped by ten adult, the youth, led the activities such as group sessions on God’s view and rights of children, stewardship of creation including environment, safety measures on water and fire and earthquake drills, lecturette on DRRM Act of 2010, HIV & Aids and Reproductive Health, devotional studies, talents’ night, band jam, and brief action planning.

.The Camp is an initial activity by the churches and faith-based groups for children and young people to acquire an awareness on disaster preparedness. Small plans of action were prepared and brought by the participants back with them to their home churches for implementation.

.The Bearers of Hope collaborated with 30 churches and faith-based organizations and Lingap Pangkabataan, Inc. in the conduct of this camp. Specifically, youth facilitators were selected from youth leaders from churches and organizations.
