Prof. Vitit Muntarbhorn, former UN Special Rapporteur on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, will share his insights on child pornography and the development of international law. Atty. Albert Muyot, Child Protection Specialist of UNICEF, will discuss the Anti-Child Pornography Act (Republic Act No. 9775), followed by an open forum.
We all operate on programs. In order to save time and effort validating each piece of information that we receive, we respond base on patterns we have established in the past. When people smile at u, we automatically smile back. When we deal with authority figures, we either panic or interact with confidence. When we are driving and see yellow light, we instinctively slow down, or speed up, depending on our programs.
We hope that you and your group will be able to take a breather for at least a day as the month of June unfolds for a special time of prayer. The first week of June is our annual week of prayer for children at risk in the Philippines as well as in the rest of the world. As a network, we have observed this prayer event annually for the past several years. We had big prayer gatherings, praying by clusters in a specific geographical area and in our respective organizations and churches. This letter is a timely and friendly reminder to each one to take the time to pray intentionally for children. We hope that you will facilitate a prayer event during the week as you are led by the Lord. It doesn’t matter whether it is big or small event. What matters is that we are united in our prayer for children during the week.
Four international children’s ministry workers will conduct the workshop with emphasis on puppetry including script writing, ventriloquism, storytelling for children, music, and much more (see poster). The four presenters come with years of experience ministering to children in many world areas but this is their first time in the Philippines!
PCMN will be conducting training on Creating Child Friendly Spaces/Preparing Communities to Protecting Children in Emergencies. The training is on Nov 16-17, 2009, 8am-4:30pm at 2nd floor, Bright Lights Learning Center, Village East, (across Makro), F. Felix Avenue, Cainta, and Rizal.
